Rosso Piceno was the first controlled denomination of origin to be created in our area. This wine has been known from antiquity, and its name derives from the pre-Roman Picentes tribe. It is a prestigious DOC wine set up in 1968.
The regulation indicates the following composition: Montepulciano in a percentage varying between 35% and 85% and Sangiovese in a percentage varying between 15% and 50%. All other non aromatic red grape cultivars recommended and/or authorised for the respective growing areas may represent up to a maximum of 15%, either individually or combined.
